SCIM Provisioning with Microsoft

User Provisioning (SCIM) works with Microsoft Entra ID. Contact Aligned support to set it up.

Written by Nadav Weiss

User Provisioning (SCIM) works with Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), so Aligned accounts are created and removed automatically as people join and leave your organization. When you assign someone to Aligned in Microsoft Entra ID, Aligned creates their account. When you remove them, Aligned cuts their access immediately and moves their rooms and content to a colleague you choose. Aligned support sets up User Provisioning (SCIM) with Microsoft Entra ID together with you. User Provisioning (SCIM) requires Single Sign-On (SSO) on your Aligned account first.

Prerequisites & Requirements

  • Plan: Enterprise

  • Role: Admin in Aligned

  • Technical: Single Sign-On (SSO) configured on your Aligned account

  • Technical: Admin access in Microsoft Entra ID

How to set up User Provisioning (SCIM) with Microsoft Entra ID

Setting up User Provisioning (SCIM) with Microsoft Entra ID is done with Aligned support.

  1. Contact Aligned support and say you want to set up User Provisioning (SCIM) with Microsoft Entra ID.

  2. Include your Aligned account name and confirm that Single Sign-On (SSO) is already configured.

  3. Have a Microsoft Entra ID admin available for the setup session. Aligned support walks you through copying the connection details from Aligned and entering them in Microsoft Entra ID.

Copy the API token from Aligned only when you are ready to paste it into Microsoft Entra ID in the same sitting. Each API token can be copied once. Generating a new API token stops the previous one from working.

Limitations

User Provisioning (SCIM) has Aligned-side limitations. Roles are applied at account creation only, profile details do not sync in either direction, and groups are not imported. The full list is in the Limitations section of User Provisioning (SCIM) with Okta.
